Cartel Investigation in Bulgarian energy market
Cartel Investigation in Bulgarian energy market
Sofia, 24 January 2018
The Bulgarian Commission for Protection of Competition has commenced starting this week a cartel investigation into the energy market.
The authorities were tensioned due to potential turbulence in the energy market that may be generated by the insolvency of a leading energy trading company. The allegations relates to price fixing of the market players by keeping artificially high the energy tariffs.
We note that the Bulgarian Parliament took steps toward regulating the Bulgarian energy prices. However, it expected that the proposed measures will boost competitiveness.
