Reopening the Economy in Poland

Reopening the Economy in Poland

Warsaw, 11 May 2020

Starting from May 4, 2020, hotels accommodation prohibition has been lifted. However, there are certain restrictions applicable to the hotel restaurants that are still closed down except for those who allow room service or take-away. Trade fairs, exhibitions, conferences and the like continue to be restricted.

Retail stores can generally be open within shopping malls of more than 2,000 sqm of sales area. We note that the total number of customers entering the shopping malls is limited to one person per 15 sqm of sales and services areas while recreation, relaxation areas and food courts remain closed.

The general guidelines for operation of hotels, facilities, pension houses in Poland during the COVID-19 epidemic provides requirements relating to staff safety, safety within facilities, preventive measures in case of suspected coronavirus infections and procedures for suspected coronavirus infections. For example, shopping malls operators must secure gloves or products for hand disinfection of the customers and disinfect the cash desk at least once per hour.
